Moraşîn
Live broadcast event from
International Amed Theatre Festival Diyarbakır
Moraşîn is the beloved of Genco. Because of war and poverty, they cannot be together, and Genco leaves his homeland in search of a name and a livelihood.
Moraşîn refuses to marry a rich old man. Instead, together with forty women—her companions—she dresses in traditional clothes and sets out in search of her beloved.
The journey unfolds through seven stages based on ancient rituals. They pass through the village without rain, the village of evils, the land of senseless men, a remorseful poet, the wooden bride, and a silent wedding, until finally Moraşîn reaches Genco.
This journey becomes a powerful opportunity for Moraşîn to reveal the courage and strength of Kurdish women while discovering the unknown lands of her homeland—a land filled with love, mythology, resistance, pain, and heroism.
The play is a new and dramatic adaptation of an ancient epic.
